In late March, local community members, DAAC, and DAAC youth responded with vigor when activities at the Farmer Brothers site (located on Normandie Ave, south of the Jones Chemical site and the Boys and Girls Club) included the crushing of cement, large stockpiles of exposed dirt and material, and trench digging. There was no apparent monitoring of the site or efforts to control the release of dust in the air. Thanks to DAAC youth and those who demanded agency intervention, the LA County Dept of Public Health and AQMD responded and the Farmer Brothers site activities are suspended (for now at least). More to come on this disturbing development, for now please see the photos taken of the site by DAAC youth who were on the ground witnessing this mess. We thank you for your fearless commitment to action!!!:
