At our second workshop, we delved into the connection between stormwater management and environmental justice.
When rain falls in urban areas, it flows over streets, freeways, parking lots, and other surfaces before entering waterways. Stormwater runoff is often worsened by human activity and can contain nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants from fertilizers, pet and yard waste. Urban flooding results from the combination of surface runoff and poor drainage in urban areas. At our second workshop, we learned how to identify and address stormwater runoff in our communities
Our second workshop presented speakers Ben Harris, Attorney with LA Waterkeeper, and Caroline Orija, LAEJN Stormwater Coordinator
